When the Sun Shines – Four

When the Sun shines, is a small collection of pieces that are evocative of lazy days in summer, spent along the coast. There haven't been many sun filled days in the Orkney Islands this year, so each one has been met with a smile and a great deal of enthusiasm to make the most of it.

That magic when the sun greets your uplifted face, the sea breeze becomes a welcome cool breath and the sea itself becomes warm, as you wade through the shallows, looking for signs of life.

The gentle colours of the golden wheat straw and linen threads, echo those of the sand, calm waters and many of the treasures that I find on my wanderings.

When the Sun Shines - Four, is a sun bleached stem, found blowing along the beach. It has been wrapped using a technique called looping,with linen thread, naturally dyed with madder.
