Summer Garden

Summer Garden is a coil basket worked in naturally dyed linen thread, with a jute core. It is part of a series of works, in which I have been exploring the possibilities when using the coil techniques that I love.

This palm sized basket, is reminiscent of the colours and tendrils which fill my garden spaces through the summertime. I have created an inner basket and an outer looping framework, so that it appears as if it is growing around the basket, in the same way as my nasturtiums and squashes seem to grasp and enclose everything around them.
