Spring Blossom

What a delight the blossom has been this spring! Perhaps because there has been so little blossom to see in the last five years of living in the Orkney Islands, it seems even more magical. Finding myself surrounded by cherry, apple and pear blossom brings so much lightness to my day!

I had to try to capture a little of those delicate, joyful petals in my basketry, so I created gently curved petals with botanical papers and used them to border a small coil basket, worked in cotton yarn, with a flax twine core.
