There is so much to love about summer, but the temptation to cram as much as possible into those long summer days left me feeling rather burnt out by the end of August.
Isn't it wonderful then that nature has cure for summer's excesses? Just when I need it most, September has arrived, bringing a change of season with it. The nights start to draw in, the stars and moon reminding me to slow down and even though the days have still been warm, I can smell the scents of autumn and feel the sea breezes whipping up to blow away my cares.
A week later and I am feeling refreshed and renewed and ready for some new creative adventures.
'Rest' is a set of three treasures found on my coastal walks, chosen for their restful qualities - simplicity in colour and form. Each one has its own cocoon basket made from hand-stripped Phormium Tenax fibres and plant-dyed linen thread. The colour of the thread is reminiscent of the seaweed that puts on its own autumnal show of colour at this time of year, as it washes up on the shore.
