Little Flower

Whilst walking in woodland, I found a large amount of Scots Pine cone scales, spread out on the woodland floor like a carpet. Presumably the result of some hungry red squirrels, looking for seeds over winter, their gorgeous red-brown colour caught the sunlight as it filtered through the trees and looked so beautiful!

I gathered a handful to take home, as they seemed perfect to work into a little woodland inspired basket.

Little Flower is a raffia coil basket, worked with Scots Pine Scales, each one hanging from a silk/steel thread. Viewed from above it looks just like a little flower and the scales catch the early morning light beautifully.
