Knotwork Basket

There is a wonderful simplicity about cordage that has been made by hand, using plant fibres. I love creating these little baskets that seem as if they could have been made many years ago and blend so well with the world around me, here on this quiet island.

I increasingly find myself drawn to making baskets that have a feeling of restfulness, quiet reflection, a tonic to the busy pressures of modern living.

This simple knotwork basket, is based on the Carrick knot and has been made from Phormium Tenax fibre, gathered locally and stripped by hand.
