A Tale of Two Crafts is a series of collaborative pieces made with Michael Sinclair which bring together two ancient crafts - woodturning and basketry.

This is the second piece in the series and Michael has used Scottish Elm to create a hollow form, which has been inspired by apothecary bottles. He has applied a pyrography band which compliments the colouration of the ebony stopper. The bottle has been finished with oil and wax and buffed.

Our collaboration is a conversation between two crafts and two craftspeople. My reply to Michael's apothecary bottle is a basket, made with hand stripped Phormium Tenax fibres, gathered from Michael's garden. I have left the rolled foot exposed, with the basket gently cocoon the belly of the bottle.
