A Tale of Two Crafts is a series of collaborative pieces made with Michael Sinclair which bring together two ancient crafts - woodturning and basketry.

This piece is the first in the series and Michael has used Scottish Elm to create a hollow form that is inspired by apothecary bottles. He has hand finished the neck of the bottle with a pyrography basket weave pattern. It has then been finished with oil and wax and finally, buffed.

Our collaboration is a conversation between two crafts and two craftspeople. My reply to Michael's apothecary bottle is a basket, made with hand stripped Phormium Tenax fibres, gathered from Michael's garden.
